First Vacation
Averie! You went on your first vacation this weekend! We decided to get out of town because Daddy has only had 1 day off since the beginning of July and we wanted to spend a little family time together. This was also a trial run for when we go to Daytona in October so we would know how you do away from home. And you did great!
We decided to go to Spartanburg because 1) it was cheap 2) it is close to home in case chaos erupted we could be home in a little over an hour. We left on Friday afternoon and stayed at the Marriott in downtown Spartanburg next to Wofford where the Panthers were having training camp. Too bad we didn't leave the hotel until Saturday night and had no idea this was going on but at least you can say you were there!

Friday night you were fussy and Mommy had an awful headache so we hung out in the room and ordered room service and got you to sleep. You slept from 8:45 that night until almost 9 the next morning without waking up! You are such an easy and flexible baby we should have known you would be a great traveler. When you woke up we got ready and went down to the pool where you went for your very first swim! We got you a little turtle float and you immediately loved the water. You sat and chilled in your float for about 45 minutes before you had enough. We went back up to the room for a bottle and nap while Daddy stayed at the pool and then we went back down to lounge around. Here is a picture of the pool and you in it!

Saturday night we went to dinner at O'Charleys and you sat in your car seat and looked around and smiled at everyone in the restaurant. We didn't get you to sleep until around 9:30 but you slept like a rock the whole night. Here you are going to dinner:

Sunday morning we got up and ready to go then headed to Wade's Southern Cooking to have lunch. It was rumored to be better than our friend Paula Deen's restaurant and it was definitely a close competitor. You did great watching us eat yummy country cooking and even grabbed my mashed potatoes. I think we may start rice cereal again this week and see if you are ready. I know it's not mashed potatoes but its a start.
You will be turning five months old this week and it is so hard to believe! Time really has flown by and it seems like just a couple days ago we were bringing you home from the hospital. I also only have two more weeks of being with you full time and it feels like someone is stabbing a knife in my heart every time I think about it. Please know that this is not what I wanted to do but it is something that I have to do in order to provide for you and our family. We went to meet your babysitter Sonya this week and you did really good with her. I think that you and her baby Trinity will become good friends and I know she will take very good care of you. And if she doesn't, you just let me know! I'm just trying not to think about it and we are going to enjoy the heck out of these last two weeks. I love you baby girl and I promsie this won't be forever!!
