6 Months Old

Today was your half year birthday Averie! We celebrated by napping, eating, and lots of playing. You are so utterly amazing and I am so proud to be your mom. Here's what you are up to:

- Sitting independently most of the time when we are playing, when you are laying on your back you can do a half crunch like you want to sit up so bad but just can't quite get there yet.

- Smiling, giggling, and laughing at things you think are funny - like granddaddy's funny faces or Tucker. You LOVE Tucker and will smile and stare at him forever

- You are still sleeping 12 hours straight through the night. You are not an early bird and your Mama appreciates that so much!

- You are drooling like a crazy person but still don't have any teeth

- When you are going to sleep you have to have your arms above your head and you suck the inside of your right upper arm, almost like it's a paci.

- You are going to the babysitter's house now while I'm back at work. You seem to love it and you are very well taken care of. You play with baby Trinity and Miss Sonya and smile really big when I walk in the door to pick you up.

- Your favorite song is "Alright" by Darius Rucker. That is the only song that will instantly calm you down when you are upset in the car. Your daddy and I have heard it at least a million times in the past couple months but we will do ANYTHING to make you happy.

- You will stand holding on to something forever. Your legs are so strong and we practice walking with you all the time.

- You are still not rolling over. We know you can do it because when we help you with it you will flip all over the place. I think you think we are crazy for wanting you to roll - I mean what could possibly be so interesting about laying on your belly??

- You can still wear things that are 3 months in the waist but your legs are about a nine month length. Thank goodness its been summer because you can pull off capris. I'm a little worried about winter - I guess you will be sporting lots of knee socks.

- You have eaten your first solids in the past couple of weeks. You have tried applesauce, bananas, pears, green beans, and sweet potatoes and loved all of them. You aren't a huge fan of rice cereal but will eat it occasionally. You eat 3 - 6oz. bottles and 1 - 8 oz. bottle a day about 3-4 hours apart.

- When you are getting ready to babble you take these really deep, loud breaths like you are gearing up for a long speech. It is really cute and makes me excited to hear what you are going to tell me.

- You love your Johnny Jump-up, your swing, your Bumbo, the Boppy, rattles, your Nu-nus, and your plastic keys.

- The best memory of the past couple weeks was when I had to work late for meet the teacher night at school and Daddy went to get you at the babysitters. I was so tired and ill and ready to be home and when I walked in the door Daddy had you on the counter in your Bumbo talking to you while he was cutting up veggies for our soup dinner the next night. You were laughing and completely entertained and Daddy was the same way. It was priceless and it looked like the most normal thing in the world for you to be helping your Daddy cook in the kitchen (you'll learn later why Daddy doesn't normally cook!).

- You love books and to be read to. You will scratch at the pages like you want to feel what is going on in the story. You love "The Very Lazy Lion" and "The Very Silly Shark".

- Nana and Grandaddy are completely wrapped around your little finger. Nana bought you a raincoat and galoshes to wear when you are 3 and your Easter dress for when you are 2. For future reference - if your mama and daddy ever tell you no I'd say its a safe bet you'll get it from Nana and Grandaddy if you just smile and ask.

- You are the most content, easy going, happy baby. You are way more than I ever even dared to dreamed you would be and I LOVE YOU more than you can ever imagine. I'm looking forward to the next six months and have already started planning your party :)
