Eli thinks this outfit looks like the Golden Girls. Is that a bad thing?
Eli took off work today so I could go to the dentist (no cavities YAY!) and we could take Averie to her 2 month check up (already). The girl who cleans my teeth is 4 months pregnant and goes to Dr. Wright too so I got to sing his praises. It is funny that I miss seeing him after having constant appointments with him for the past 10 months. It is also funny how even though I HATED being pregnant I miss it sometimes too. I think what I am missing in that sense of having Averie as a part of me and knowing that she was being protected from the outside world. When we have her fleece cover over her car seat and she starts kicking it reminds me of that glorious feeling I felt for about the last 20 weeks of my pregnancy. I will say that I love her being on the outside more and seeing those gorgeous long legs kicking me!
Anyway, back to her appointment - she weighs 11 lbs. 8 oz. and is 23 & 3/4in long, which is the 90th and 55th percentiles, and her head is 15 & 1/2 in around, the 45th percentile. Everything checked out great, she didn't pee on anything, and she only screamed for a second when she got her 2 shots and her oral vaccine. I made Eli hold her because I am a huge chicken and I can't stand to see those needles poking her. Dr. Myers told us we were doing a great job and she can tell we talk and sing to her because she is so alert and vocal. Oh buddy did she let us know how vocal she can be because after stopping at Wal-Mart for baby Tylenol (they don't put the dosage on the bottle so dummy me has to call the drs office and ask how to medicate my child with Tylenol) she screamed most of the way home and then pretty much on and off until she had her last bottle and went down for bed. I do feel so lucky though that recently she has gotten in her bedtime routine and will go to sleep without a fight when we lay her in her crib and will sleep straight through until the morning. It does make it challenging to get things done during the day when she only naps for 30-45 minutes at a time but I know we are so lucky to have such a great sleeper.
