Mother's Day 2009
I told Eli that my first Mother's Day was the best one so far ;) On Saturday we got up early, fed and changed Averie, and then took her to beautiful downtown Brevard. I had been wanting to go to the tailgate market but those kind of things intimidate me because street vendors can smell my weakness so I talked Eli in to pushing little A in the stroller and walking around with me. It was suprisingly big and busy for little ole Brevard and they had all kinds of cool handmade kids clothes, jewelry, plants, veggies, and baked goodies. We left with 3 cucumbers and 2 homemade tomatoes. We walked up to Diamond Rush to get a new watch battery put in Eli's watch and he suprised me with a "little a" charm her ordered way before she was born. It was perfect and looks great on my Pandora bracelet. We then walked down to the new library to get some info on baby story time. This was the first time we had been in there and it is absoulety beautiful. I think Averie is going to be some kind of punk rock/rebel chick because she HATES quiet. She didn't cry the entire time we were out except when we were talking to the children's librarian. I wheeled her outside real quick and she calmed down once she heard traffic and noise. We ran home to grab a bottle then headed to Country Gardens and Frye nursery to look at plants. My absolute favorite thing to do since I kill the plants that they swear will survive anything. I made Eli promise to get me two ferns from there because they are so big and full and I managed to keep them alive for at least half of the summer last year. He vetoed the tomato plants because they died a slow death last year but I was growing a human last summer for crying out loud. I think that will be a Mommy and Averie project while he is at work. I still have the upside down tomato planters. We came home and rested for a while then got ready and Aunt Katie and Nana showed up so we could go on our very first date night!
I was really nervous at first to leave her for this because this child has been a part of me, either literally for nine whole months, or not out of my sight for the last 9 weeks straight. I knew she was in good hands, I mean my mom did raise me after all :) so Eli pushed me out the door and we headed off to Outback for a nice dinner. I had to do a Census survey on Friday and got an unexpected check for $30 so it was dinner on the Federal Government. Outback has dropped its prices and its portion sizes but I would rather eat what I pay for instead of wasting it and man did I eat. It was so good to eat at a normal pace instead of shoveling it in praying Averie doesn't start screaming. I missed that though and we talked about her most of the time :) We hit up the Burke outlet to get some baby presents then we to the Airport to shop for a new outfit for me. I got a cute skirt and new shirt and I found a Curious George tea set at Marshalls! You know how much I love my George and I can not wait until Averie and I are sitting around having a lovely tea party surrounded by her stuffed animals. We got home around 9 and went straight to bed.
We went home to change clothes and relax then headed back over to Nana's house for an indoor picnic. The only picture I took on Mother's Day is the one above and its not even of us together. But you can tell Averie is very good at relaxing. The picnic was great and I got the "Guardian" Willow Tree angel and a really sweet book and card from Jay. Averie got really fussy right before we left, which is really stressful because my parent's stupid dog Murphy can't stand it when she cries and he does this horrible screeching/barking/whimpering thing every time she makes noise. We finally just strapped her in the car seat and went home. She ate her bottle and then slept from 9 to 8 am Monday morning. What a great day!
